It is day 2 of Craft Lightning Felt Edition! Today, I am sharing a really quick and easy project that also makes a great gift idea! I have been making these felt tissue cases for years. You can embellish them with embroidery, fancy stitching or any kind of fabric embellishment. They are easy to make in just minutes with a few simple supplies.

Supplies:
- Craft Felt (6 3/4″ x 5 7/8″)
- Sewing Machine and Thread
- Pinking Shears
- Embroidery Floss and Embroidery Needle (optional)
Felt Tissue Case
To start, cut the felt to 6 3/4″ by 5 7/8″. This is easiest done with a rotary cutter and gridded ruler, but you can also mark your felt and use regular scissors.
Fold the short sides in towards the middle and pin.
Sew each side using a 1/2″ seam allowance.
Trim the excess felt on the edges with pinking shears.
Note: The pinking shears step is not necessary as the felt will not fray but it does give the project a more finished look.
Adding Embroidery or Other Embellishments
If you want to add something to make the tissue case a little fancy, it will be easiest to add it before you assemble the actual tissue case.
To fancy up or personalize your project you can add embroidery with a monogram, name, or a pretty design like I chose to do. Before beginning, use pins to mark where your embroidery will go.
I free-handed all the embroidery, but you could draw out a pattern first.
Once your embroidery is complete you can finish off the backside with some fusible interfacing to keep all your stitches intact.
Then, follow the steps above to sew the sides together.
These make great gifts. If you don’t know how to embroider, you could add some decorative ribbon, some fancy stitches with your sewing machine, or a patch. You could also embellish the case with fabric paint. These are very inexpensive and quick to put together.
